A passport is a booklet that is given to you from your government that will allow you to travel to other countries, so the other countries will know who is in their country. A passport is for short time periods of stay in a forgien country, and is kinda like a drivers license in your country….it is a form of I.D., and to make you able to travel legally.

A Visa is a document issued to you from the country you are going to be going into, that will allow you to stay there for longer than just a vacation or short period of time. A visa can be issued for extended travel, working, going to school, etc. and is issued by the forgien government, so you must apply your application to the forgien government, and wait until that government accepts and approves or declines your visa to enter and stay in that country for as long as the visa is good for.
