you need a unlocked phone, verizon phone won’t work. However there should had go phone in uk.

A good thing to try with your current phone is to try to unlock it so it can be used both places. Also, when you are abroad it is easier to get your phone unlocked. When it is unlocked you can simple use an international chip with it.
